Along this journey, I assisted friends with their wedding planning from family drama to floral arranging. I became whatever they needed me to be. And along the way, I fell more and more in love with weddings. I'd spend hours in Barnes n' Nobles, reading every piece of advice Martha Stewart and Preston Bailey would indulge to offer us gratification. When an ex-boyfriend of mine accused me of being obsessed with weddings, it suddenly clicked that I was never going to stop. I had become a wedding-aholic and the only cure was to continue quenching my thirst for wedding inspiration!
At 21, I fell in love with best friend, David Posadny, and began the role through the process of planning my own wedding. Needless to say, my expectations were on the pages of a Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine. And what bride's expectation isn't? Through months of planning, my dreams came true and I had a beautiful wedding; but my eyes had been opened in a whole new light to the demands and stress of a bride. I had planned banquets twice as hard with triple the guest count, but never had my heart in an event the way I put my own heart into my wedding. From that point on, I wanted more then ever to help today's bride avoid the stress that had burdened me until I said, "I do."
There's something too about the industry of Weddings & Events. You're a master of your own art and once you're noticed, you became respected by all the other artists around you. That respect is not quickly or lightly earned. I will be graduating from the Association of Bridal Consultants this Fall, and though well respected, education will only take me so far. Some people want to shake the hand of the President, would kill for Brad Pitt to notice them in a crowd, or have Piers Morgan's opinion of their talent. Well, someday, I want these people to shake my hand, notice me in the crowd, and want my opinion. To became a respected artist in the community of wedding design and consulting - I want that more then anything in the world.
To get there, I must remember who I am and stay true to my heart. Through humble beginnings and remain a humble artist. I fell in love with weddings - Wedding Consulting chose me. ~
