Girly~Chic

In the attempt to find girly fun ideas for my bride in October, I happened upon these very creative ideas! David Tutera gave me the idea of using balloons in his recent episode on "My Fair Wedding." For all us who raise an eyebrow at the idea of the tacky archways, David blew us all away with new perspective. I love the touch of black lace, instead of string for a balloon bow-tie - how charming! Black anemones with their hint of pink for flower decor and something sweet; because everyone loves a sweet bride. ~

Meet me under the Stars

If you told me you based your entire wedding design from a star, I would have to compose myself to not let out an outcry. Immediately I think of a star-spangled banner and just can't wrap my mind around that shape for a classy event. However, tastefully done, I think this concept could be quite stunning.

Sparkles and glitter, a soft glow to the evening. Glass lanterns above the ceremony, beaming brightly above the bride and groom.  I'll have to admit, I was inspired in the Disney film "Tangled" at the utter amazement of sky lanterns being released into the quite stillness of the night. You would have to be extremely cautious to incorporate sky lanterns into a wedding finale, have the proper documentation, and purchase eco-friendly lanterns (these do exist). What an awesome display for the end of the evening, like closing the end of a fairy-tale storybook. ~

The Beginning of Something New

My whole life I have held myself back from reaching for my dreams. Or rather, my dreams hold themselves back from me; but something changed. I'm not sure what yet, except that I pushed back the barriers holding me down and am pursuing opening my Wedding Consultant business: "The Glass Slipper."

Ever since I can remember, Wedding & I have been in love with each other. I would beg my Mother for catalogs in the grocery aisle, rush home, and eagerly begin marking pages of anything my delighted brown eyes were attracted to. Amusingly, not much has changed.

It's been quite a journey coming to this point; but through opposition and determination, I now have utter confidence in myself to pave new roads for inspirational weddings and events. This fall, I am on schedule to graduate and join the Association of Bridal Consultants (the only way to be certified). I am designing a bride's wedding for this fall and am thrilled with the artistic details! However, my newest obstacle has been locating artistic vendors in the Toledo, OH area. We seem to be stuck in the 80's out here, with pillars/columns, tulle, and Christmas lights (three of my biggest peeves in wedding design). Though a bit discouraged, I am also excited at the new endeavor for illuminating my brides to the biggest day of their life! I hope to push past the traditions of old and broaden our abilities for something new; but always keeping it tasteful & classy. And not only for brides, but also vendors and anyone seeking new ideas.

I cannot help to contain my excitement for the future! And please, do excuse me if it jumps off these pages and spreads to you - feel free to blame me. No more barriers, this is only the beginning of something new.
